Having a very, very long Wordle streak is a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, it grants me immense bragging rights over those mere mortals with their streaks in the hundreds. On the other, it turns every game into a must-win ordeal. After all, what would I be without my Wordle streak? A so-called ‘expert’ with no credentials, that’s what. I’d be laughed out of town. I joke, of course, but having gone 1,046 games without a loss I would rather not give up my streak all the same. New Zerocam app lands on Android promising ‘natural photography’App calls itself an ‘anti-AI’ camera app that removes ‘artificial effects’The app needs a subscription for full access and unlimited photos A new Android app called Zerocam has just launched to give photographers a more natural alternative to the over-processed snaps that many phones shoot by default. Zerocam is already available on iOS but has now come out of beta for Android. The app has a simple, stripped-down interface and shoots in the raw format – an option that is already available in many other camera apps. However, like Halide’s Process Zero feature (which is iOS-only), Zerocam differentiates itself from other apps in its treatment of that raw photo. If left untouched, the raw file will look flat and lifeless, so Zerocam applies a custom-made LUT (Look Up Table), which is similar to a preset or filter. Instagram will no longer refresh when the app is openedThe change was confirmed in an Instagram story by Instagram head Adam MosseriThis solves a frustrating long-term issue with the app Instagram has finally fixed its most annoying issue after years of frustration for its billions-strong user base. Instagram head Adam Mosseri confirmed (via Instagram Stories, naturally), that the app will no longer refresh the feed as soon as you open it up, and instead show you a feed that doesn’t disappear after new content loads. The previous system displayed cached or previously loaded content in the feed while new images and videos loaded in, and then refreshed the feed to show the new stuff. This was apparently good for engagement but highly frustrating for users, who’d start watching a video or reading a post, only to have it disappear into the digital ether, never to be seen again. A new Android search experience is in testingResults are updated in real time from voice inputsThere’s no indication when the feature may launch With the rise of generative AI bots, it feels like Google’s dominance in web search is under serious threat for the first time in a long time, but Google itself is busy testing new features to help users find information faster. As spotted by well-known tipster @AssembleDebug (via Android Central), Google is experimenting with a real-time conversational search experience on mobile. You simply chat to Google, and the results change automatically with each input, as you ask follow-up questions or submit new ones.
