The FBI has managed to retrieve Signal messages from someone’s phone, even with the app deletedThere’s a setting you can enable to prevent this from being possibleIn other messaging app news, Telegram’s founder has called WhatsApp’s encryption “the biggest consumer fraud in history” If you care about privacy, then there’s a good chance you already use Signal for messaging, and you might have assumed that this was enough to keep your messages private. But the FBI has just shown that’s not the case. As reported by 404 Media, the FBI was able to retrieve Signal messages from someone’s iPhone, even though the person had deleted the app. Given that Signal messages have end-to-end encryption, you’d probably assume that the only way someone could read them was with access to the sender or recipient’s Signal account, which isn’t what happened here. Reddit has announced that r/all is going awayThe feed was a place to find trending posts across the platformIt can still be found by going to the old Reddit interface If you’re a Reddit user, you may have frequently loaded up the r/all page, a feed showing posts that are trending across the platform with fewer filters than the similar r/popular. Now the page is going away, though at the time of writing there is still one way to get to it. Reddit published a changelog (via The Verge) explaining that “entry points and links to r/all” are being taken down starting from April 2. This affects both the desktop interface and the mobile apps for Android and iOS. “As part of ongoing efforts to simplify Reddit and improve Home feed personalization, the final steps to deprecate r/all are being implemented,” Reddit says. “Trending content remains available via r/popular.” The r/popular feed is similar to r/all, but […]
