The answers to today’s Strands, game #768, are…

“On the sly”? Maybe this was something to do with the hits of Sly & The Family Stone? Except I couldn’t think of any of their hits beyond Family Affair, so that was quickly ruled out.

A hint gave me WILY and then I linked L-I-K-E-A, but instead of heading towards F-O-X I meandered to S-H-R-E-W — “like a shrew” sounded almost like a spangram, but after getting SHREWD I realized that I had missed LIKEAFOX.

From here, the board opened up and I was able to complete the game — but I would say my laborious gameplay today decidedly lacked CUNNING.
