If you’ve had trouble checking your balance, viewing the latest activity, or even sending or requesting cash on PayPal or Venmo earlier today, you weren’t alone. Two of the largest online payment platforms experienced major outages on October 16, 2025. According to Down Detector, which tracks reported outages for services, both PayPal and Venmo saw a surge beginning around 11 AM ET that lasted for well over an hour. PayPal hit nearly 10,000 reports, and Venmo wasn’t far behind at over 8,000. PayPal took a while to reflect the issues it was having on its own status page, but shared this statement with us after the outage had concluded: “PayPal and Venmo experienced a brief service disruption that has since been resolved.” The company has also not said what caused the interruption, but it clearly impacted many users. Google Keep reminders are heading to Google TasksGoogle Tasks syncs across multiple Google appsYou’ll see the change happen over the next few weeks Google has been busy moving different parts of its apps around, and having previously announced the change last year, is now putting all Google Keep reminders into Google Tasks – in a move that’s likely to confuse power users of the note-taking app. As 9to5Google reports, the idea is to make life simpler – with Google Tasks a central hub for all your reminders across Google Keep, Gemini, Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Docs. But it means Google Keep enthusiasts will now have to jump between apps to remember what it is they’re supposed to be doing. You’ll still be able to create reminders in Google Keep, by tapping the little bell icon up in the top-right corner of a note.
