Swamped with browser tabs? Chrome could soon use AI to organize them all for you

28/11/2023 0

If you’re one of those people who open browser tabs like they’re going out of fashion, and eventually end up with a sprawl of tabbed sites that gives you a headache trying to cope with it all – well, Google Chrome could soon help with that. This is another potential case of AI to the rescue, in fact, with an inbound feature for Chrome as spotted by well-known leaker Leopeva64 on X (formerly Twitter). Chrome’s “Organize tabs” dialog now displays a loading animation similar to what you see in Google’s AI-powered search results or in the Side panel (in case anyone still doubted that this feature will use AI 😅):https://t.co/m8Sacjgz33.https://t.co/KkCpiEscq1 pic.twitter.com/ETFRQIoEhoNovember 27, 2023 See more This is the new ‘Organize Tabs’ ability which is in testing in Google’s browser, and now it looks like it’ll use artificial intelligence. As Leopeva64 points out, when you click on the button to have your tabs organized, the animation to show […]

Quordle today – hints and answers for Tuesday, November 28 (game #673)

28/11/2023 0

It’s time for your daily dose of Quordle hints, plus the answers for both the main game and the Daily Sequence spin off.  Quordle is the only one of the many Wordle clones that I’m still playing now, around 18 months after the daily-word-game craze hit the internet, and with good reason: it’s fun, but also difficult. What’s more, its makers (now the online dictionary Merriam-Webster) are also keeping it fresh in the form of a variant called the Daily Sequence, which sees you complete four puzzles consecutively, rather than concurrently.  But Quordle is tough, so if you already find yourself searching for Wordle hints, you’ll probably need some for this game too.  I’m a Quordle and Wordle fanatic who’s been playing since December 2021, so I can definitely help you solve Quordle today and improve your game for tomorrow. Read on for my Quordle hints to game #673 and the answers to the main game and […]

Elon Musk is making another change to Twitter, but it’s one you may actually not hate

23/11/2023 0

Every once in a while, X (formerly Twitter) CTO Elon Musk realizes he’s made a rash or simply bad decision and reverses himself. Oh, wait. That virtually never happens. Even today’s announcement that X is bringing back article headlines is a half-reversal, at best. In August, X made the head-scratching decision to strip article headlines out of tweets. It was a small, annoying change that ultimately turned one of X’s key features, its usefulness as a source for breaking news, into a hunt for stories about breaking news. Following the change, article tweets looked like out-of-context images. Tweet text doesn’t link to anything, and if you want to read a story, you have to know to click on the image. In an upcoming release, 𝕏 will overlay title in the upper potion of the image of a URL cardNovember 23, 2023 See more It’s no secret that the frustration factor of using X has been growing ever […]

Chrome’s ad-blocking plan could be a privacy disaster – and a reason to switch to Firefox

22/11/2023 0

Google might be a search company, but it’s also an advertising company, and nowhere is that clearer than with its efforts to crush ad blockers in its Chrome web browser. The latest twist in this saga has seen Google announce that it is resuming its plan to severely restrict ad blockers, leaving users and privacy advocates in uproar. In a post on the company’s blog, Google explained that, beginning in June 2024, it will restart its plans to deprecate the Manifest V2 format that current Chrome extensions use and replace it with the more restrictive Manifest V3. According to the post, a range of new features have been added to Manifest V3 that have – according to Google – met with approval from the developer community. One of the changes is that Google has increased the upper limit on how many rules that extensions can have in place from 5,000 to 30,000, a number Google calls “generous.” […]

YouTube may now have annoying delays if you use an ad-blocker – here’s why

21/11/2023 0

People from across the internet have been experiencing a strange five-second loading delay whenever they open a YouTube video. This phenomenon appears to have been discovered by a user on the YouTube subreddit, however, the original clip has since been deleted by the moderators. Copies of it fortunately exist elsewhere showing the delay occurring on Firefox. From here, people began to find the same issue on other non-Chrome browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Safari. There are claims online stating it also happens on Google Chrome although it is much less frequent. Internet sleuths have pointed to a specific line of code in a YouTube Javascript source file as the primary culprit of the five-second gap. In our experience, we couldn’t find that particular line. In fact, we didn’t experience any performance problems when we opened a YouTube video on Firefox, Edge, or Chrome. It’s entirely possible this is only affecting a handful of accounts For […]

Chrome just made it easier to find useful extensions – including AI-powered ones

21/11/2023 0

If you’re sick of having a hard time finding the best Chrome extensions for your web browser, things might be about to get a little easier. That’s because Google has just launched a new Chrome Web Store full of extensions, complete with an updated design and extra features including new categories and personalized recommendations. In a blog post, Google says that in addition to new categories, such as Shopping, Tools and Entertainment, there’s a dedicated section for AI-powered extensions that make use of artificial intelligence to improve their capabilities. Many of these integrate popular chatbots and include some of the best ChatGPT extensions available right now. There is a section reserved for suggested extensions, which Google notes are based on “what you’ve previously downloaded.” And it’s all wrapped up in a Material You layout that makes use of the large cards and icons that we’ve seen on everything from ChromeOS to Android 14. Filtering out the noise […]
