Quordle today – hints and answers for Thursday, December 14 (game #689)

14/12/2023 0

It’s time for your daily dose of Quordle hints, plus the answers for both the main game and the Daily Sequence spin off.  Quordle is the only one of the many Wordle clones that I’m still playing now, around 18 months after the daily-word-game craze hit the internet, and with good reason: it’s fun, but also difficult. What’s more, its makers (now the online dictionary Merriam-Webster) are also keeping it fresh in the form of a variant called the Daily Sequence, which sees you complete four puzzles consecutively, rather than concurrently.  But Quordle is tough, so if you already find yourself searching for today’s Wordle answer, you’ll probably need some hints for this game too.  I’m a Quordle and Wordle fanatic who’s been playing since December 2021, so I can definitely help you solve Quordle today and improve your game for tomorrow. Microsoft is giving Edge a feature that some people really want – and some will probably hate

12/12/2023 0

Microsoft is planning a change for Edge to allow the browser to stay open when the last tab is closed. Currently, when you only have one tab remaining in an Edge window, if you close that tab, the app will close itself as well. With the new option – which leaker Leopeva64 spotted in testing, in the Canary version of the browser – Edge will no longer close when that final tab is dismissed. Instead, a default tab will open (NTP or New Tab Page) in its place, keeping the browser running. Microsoft is testing an option that will cause controversy: when you click the “close” button of the last open tab, the browser doesn’t close but instead switches to the NTP:https://t.co/h0pW7h3jRr.https://t.co/4gEvLmj8Nt pic.twitter.com/qSNJd8h8g1December 11, 2023 See more You can see the new scheme of things in action in Leopeva64’s tweet above. Essentially, Edge becomes like the Terminator. You can kill that last tab, but it keeps coming […]

The most popular Google searches of 2023 – including the songs we hummed the most

11/12/2023 0

Google has revealed the top searches for 2023 in various categories, which includes the most searched-for movies, TV shows, music and much more. So, let’s start with the world of film, with the movie that was Googled the most being Barbie – which just edged out Oppenheimer (you might have guessed that’d follow in second, given the whole ‘Barbenheimer’ thing). The third placed movie was Jawan, followed by Sound of Freedom, and then taking fifth spot was John Wick: Chapter 4, just keeping Avatar: The Way of Water out of the top five. Onto the TV shows, where we have The Last of Us as the most popular search, followed by Wednesday – no surprises there given the stir created by the latter (which was excellent), and the game connection with the former (which was also excellent). Following that we have Ginny & Georgia, One Piece, and in fifth position Kaleidoscope. In the world of music – […]

Wi-Fi 7 is nearly here – 2024 could be the year wireless speeds get turbocharged

11/12/2023 0

Wi-Fi 7 is going to be official, by which we mean finalized, before the end of the first quarter of 2024. Word has come from the Wi-Fi Alliance (sworn enemies of the Bluetooth Empire – or maybe not) that next-gen Wi-Fi, also known as 802.11be, will become a concrete standard by the end of Q1 next year, as opposed to the draft version it has been for some time now. As Tom’s Hardware reports, the Wi-Fi Alliance tells us: “Wi-Fi Certified 7, based on IEEE 802.11be technology, will be available before the end of Q1 2024. Wi-Fi 7 devices are entering the market today, and Wi-Fi Certified 7 will facilitate worldwide interoperability and bring advanced Wi-Fi performance to the next era of connected devices.” Never mind all the buzzwords and such, you’re probably thinking – how much faster is Wi-Fi 7? It’ll offer speeds up to 40 Gbit/s and will be the best part of five times […]

Google’s Chrome browser to allow for picking a default search engine – but far from everyone gets a choice

09/12/2023 0

Google is in the process of making a useful change to its Chrome browser on the desktop whereby users will get a choice of the search engine they want to use by default – but the catch is this is only happening in Europe. Specifically, this change is incoming for the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA), as Ghacks spotted, with the move currently in testing (the Canary version of Chrome, hidden behind a flag). How it works is that when you first fire up Chrome, the browser pops up with a panel asking you to choose your default search engine from a list. The entries on that list are picked as they are popular options in your region, and of course they’ll doubtless include Google search, but Google may not come top of the list – in fact, the ordering is random. (But the selection isn’t random, because as noted, they are all popular […]

Threads finally gets hashtags and there’s officially no reason to keep using Twitter

08/12/2023 0

Threads finally has hashtags. Sort of. Still, the addition of this core social media feature along with the expansion of search capabilities to users around the world means Threads is maturing as a social media platform and as a viable alternative to the relic that was once Twitter and is now better known as X or the place where Elon Musk goes to sh*tpost. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri announced the pair of updates on Threads, which is also part of Meta, on Thursday. While the search news is just an expansion of what English and Spanish users have had for some time, the introduction of what Threads calls “tags” is momentous. Threads tags are not officially being called “hashtags,” but there is a hashtag icon in the updated interface on desktop and mobile (if you have the latest update and it’s been enabled for you) that you use to launch a new tag or add an existing […]
