Quordle today – hints and answers for Sunday, January 28 (game #734)

28/01/2024 0

It’s time for your daily dose of Quordle hints, plus the answers for both the main game and the Daily Sequence spin off.  Quordle is the only one of the many Wordle clones that I’m still playing now, around two years after the daily-word-game craze hit the internet, and with good reason: it’s fun, but also difficult. What’s more, its makers (now the online dictionary Merriam-Webster) are also keeping it fresh in the form of a variant called the Daily Sequence, which sees you complete four puzzles consecutively, rather than concurrently.  But Quordle is tough, so if you already find yourself searching for today’s Wordle answer, you’ll probably need some hints for this game too.  I’m a Quordle and Wordle fanatic who’s been playing since December 2021, so I can definitely help you solve Quordle today and improve your game for tomorrow. Google’s upcoming Chrome release could be good for Windows on ARM devices taking on MacBooks and Chromebooks

26/01/2024 0

Google Chrome is coming to Windows 11 devices running on ARM processors. A new version of the browser has been released through the Canary release channel which will allow users with ARM-based devices to run Chrome natively – rather than having to use an emulator (which brings its own complexities and performance issues).  ARM-based mobile devices are very common already, and ARM processors and ARM-based chips (like Apple’s M1, M2, and M3 silicon chips) are becoming more commonplace in devices like PCs. Unfortunately, those running Windows on a device with an ARM chip couldn’t use Chrome natively and would have to use a workaround like running Chrome in emulation mode.  This isn’t the end of the world, but if you’re emulating a virtual device within your device, you’re relying on the processing constraints of the virtual device. This limited how well Chrome performed on ARM-64 processor devices, until now, thanks to the latest release in the Canary […]

Meta bulks up Instagram safety and finally restricts strangers from messaging minors by default

26/01/2024 0

Meta, parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is implementing new default settings that will stop strangers from messaging minors. Parents and guardians will be able to access enhanced parental supervision tools allowing them increased control over the safety and privacy settings of their teens’ Instagram accounts.  These changes are the tech firm’s latest effort to offer better protection to minors on its platforms. In a Newsroom post, Meta elaborated that these stricter default messaging settings will apply to teens under 16 years old (or under 18 in some countries). This will mean that they won’t be able to receive messages or be added into group chats by users they’re not connected to on Instagram or on Facebook (or Facebook Messenger).  Meta began this present push to reinforce its safeguards for minors in 2023 after years of ongoing discussion about the impact social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook have on children and teenagers reached boiling point. Last […]

Google’s Art Selfie 2 uses AI to transport you to another time – here’s how to use it

24/01/2024 0

If your social media profile snaps are in need of a 2024 refresh, Google has just released a new AI-powered tool to help you rustle up some selfies with a historical twist.  Art Selfie 2, which lives in the Google Arts & Culture app for iOS and Android, is a new riff on Google’s original feature, which launched back in 2018 to help you find your look-a-likes throughout art history. This new version instead uses generative AI (of course) to edit your selfie snap and place you in your choice of a historical or artistic moment. Its list of 27 options includes everything from Woodstock Festival to Gaucho and Rousseau’s Jungle, across art, history, and travel sub-genres. This isn’t something we haven’t already seen from apps like Lensa, but it is completely free and very simple to use. While you’re waiting for your image to be generated (which takes around ten seconds) you can read up on […]

Google Chrome is using AI to make surfing the web even easier and safer

24/01/2024 0

Google announced several new AI tools to its web browser, Google Chrome, that will help you surf the web more easily, safely, and more accessible.  With the release of Chrome (M121), the tech giant is releasing experimental generative AI features, which will be available on both Chrome for Mac and Windows.  The first feature is called Tab Organizer, which enhances Tab groups by using Chrome to suggest and create tab groups based on currently open tabs. It’ll even suggest names and emoji to make it easier to find next time. To use it, right-click a tab and select “Organize Similar Tabs” or click the drop-down arrow to the left of your tabs. The second tool applies the generative AI wallpaper feature to Android 14 and Pixel 8 devices to the Chrome browser, allowing you to generate custom color themes based on your subject, mood, visual style, and color. To activate the feature, go to the “Customize Chrome” […]

Got a messy Google Photos library? This new Android feature will help tame it

23/01/2024 0

Keeping your Google Photos library tidy can be tricky at the best of times, but Google is finally starting to roll out a long-promised feature called ‘Photo stacks’ on Android that should be a big help. ‘Photo stacks’ promises to tame unruly Google Photos libraries by automatically grouping similar photos into stacks. This means photos taken at a similar time will all be bunched together, with Google choosing a ‘top pick’ photo to represent the stack and showing a number in the top-right corner to tell you how many snaps are in the stack.  The good news is that Photo stacks, which was originally announced back in November 2023, is starting to appear for many Google Photos users on Android after first debuting on iOS. But the bad news is that the roll-out appears to be completely random, being pushed out as a server-side update rather than an Android app update. This means that you may not […]

Google’s next AI update for Gmail could let you ask it to write emails with your voice

23/01/2024 0

If composing the perfect email isn’t your forte, help could be on the way from Google, in the shape of a new AI voice feature for Gmail that’s set to make drafting emails less of a chore for Android users. At its IO event in March last year Google announced a new ‘Help me write’ tool that creates draft emails based on written prompts that you enter – for example, you could ask the AI to draft an email party invitation, or a job application. The feature is currently only available in Google’s invite-only Workspace Labs program, which enables selected users to try out new AI features before they’re rolled out to users more widely. Now it appears Google is going one better, by enabling you to submit prompts with your voice, rather than having to type them. The updated feature is called ‘Draft email with voice’ and was spotted by Android blog TheSpAndroid. The new voice […]
