Quordle today – hints and answers for Saturday, March 9 (game #775)

09/03/2024 0

It’s time for your daily dose of Quordle hints, plus the answers for both the main game and the Daily Sequence spin off.  Quordle is the only one of the many Wordle clones that I’m still playing now, around two years after the daily-word-game craze hit the internet, and with good reason: it’s fun, but also difficult. What’s more, its makers (now the online dictionary Merriam-Webster) are also keeping it fresh in the form of a variant called the Daily Sequence, which sees you complete four puzzles consecutively, rather than concurrently.  But Quordle is tough, so if you already find yourself searching for today’s Wordle answer, you’ll probably need some hints for this game too.  I’m a Quordle and Wordle fanatic who’s been playing since December 2021, so I can definitely help you solve Quordle today and improve your game for tomorrow. TikTok could be banned – What a US ban would mean and how would it work

09/03/2024 0

It’s been almost exactly a year since the last significant threat of a TikTok ban in the US. This time, a bill to ban the popular social media app on US shores passed by a unanimous vote in the House of Representatives. Considering the bipartisan support, the bill may glide through the Senate and end up on President Joe Biden’s desk within weeks. The prospect of a total US ban now seems very real.  What this would mean, how it would work, and what comes next are largely unchanged from when we wrote this story last year. TikTok’s infinite stream of lip-sync videos, illusions, and air fryer recipes might seem innocent enough, but the app is now facing the very serious threat of a US ban. Over the past year, TikTok has been in the eye of a political storm that has seen it banned from government devices in the US, the EU, and now the UK. […]

Google Maps could soon get better at knowing which direction you’re facing

08/03/2024 0

Fancy Google Maps features like Immersive View are all well and good, but sometimes you just want the basics to work a bit better. Fortunately, a new upgrade for Android phones is going to help with a common Maps bugbear – your phone getting confused about which direction you’re facing. A new post in the official Android Developers blog (via 9to5Google) describes a powerful new API for Android phones called Fused Orientation Provider (or FOP), which promises to finally deliver “consistent device orientation for all”. Your Android phone relies on “device orientation” for lots of things, including augmented reality and its compass. But one of the most common use cases is helping show you which direction to walk in when you’re late for a restaurant reservation in a new city. Google Maps and other navigational apps still let us down here, leaving us spinning around in confused circles while we try to work out whether to trust the […]

Is Facebook down? Yes it is! And so is Instagram and Facebook Messenger

05/03/2024 0

Facebook and Instagram both appear to be down in certain regions, with Downdetector indicating outages, as well as our own difficulties in logging into the social media apps owned by Meta. After checking the Facebook app on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, I was informed the session had expired and I needed to log in again. After putting in the password, Facebook appeared to do a virtual hiccup and then tell me there was something wrong. As a result, this also means Facebook Messenger is also down and boots users back to a login screen where their credentials don’t appear to be accepted. However, I can stil login to Instagram, while some of my colleagues report that they can’t. So it looks like the outage is somewhat sporadic. This story is developing so read on. So when I try to login to Facebook or Facebook Messenger I get a pop up saying an “unexpected error occurred” and […]

Google has just made Chrome’s search suggestions smarter, even when you’re offline or using Incognito Mode

01/03/2024 0

Google Chrome, the popular web browser from Google, has recently got some neat new features, and the one that stands out the most is its improved search functionality during periods when devices have a poor connection.  As Google writes in its post on its official blog, The Keyword, sometimes when you need information, you may not have the best internet connection – and now, Google’s improved the on-device capabilities for Chrome on iOS and Android devices to show search suggestions for when you find yourself in such a position.  Because Chrome is getting these enhanced search capabilities, it’ll also mean you can expect better suggestions when using Incognito Mode. You can expect search suggestions even if Chrome can’t gather the type of information it usually harvests – either from the internet or your browsing history. (Image credit: Christopher Niño/Pexels) More improvements to search incoming These aren’t the only search-related improvements you can expect in Chrome. First off, […]
