Quordle today – hints and answers for Thursday, November 23 (game #668)

23/11/2023 0

It’s time for your daily dose of Quordle hints, plus the answers for both the main game and the Daily Sequence spin off.  Quordle is the only one of the many Wordle clones that I’m still playing now, around 18 months after the daily-word-game craze hit the internet, and with good reason: it’s fun, but also difficult. What’s more, its makers (now the online dictionary Merriam-Webster) are also keeping it fresh in the form of a variant called the Daily Sequence, which sees you complete four puzzles consecutively, rather than concurrently.  But Quordle is tough, so if you already find yourself searching for Wordle hints, you’ll probably need some for this game too.  I’m a Quordle and Wordle fanatic who’s been playing since December 2021, so I can definitely help you solve Quordle today and improve your game for tomorrow. Chrome’s ad-blocking plan could be a privacy disaster – and a reason to switch to Firefox

22/11/2023 0

Google might be a search company, but it’s also an advertising company, and nowhere is that clearer than with its efforts to crush ad blockers in its Chrome web browser. The latest twist in this saga has seen Google announce that it is resuming its plan to severely restrict ad blockers, leaving users and privacy advocates in uproar. In a post on the company’s blog, Google explained that, beginning in June 2024, it will restart its plans to deprecate the Manifest V2 format that current Chrome extensions use and replace it with the more restrictive Manifest V3. According to the post, a range of new features have been added to Manifest V3 that have – according to Google – met with approval from the developer community. One of the changes is that Google has increased the upper limit on how many rules that extensions can have in place from 5,000 to 30,000, a number Google calls “generous.” […]

YouTube may now have annoying delays if you use an ad-blocker – here’s why

21/11/2023 0

People from across the internet have been experiencing a strange five-second loading delay whenever they open a YouTube video. This phenomenon appears to have been discovered by a user on the YouTube subreddit, however, the original clip has since been deleted by the moderators. Copies of it fortunately exist elsewhere showing the delay occurring on Firefox. From here, people began to find the same issue on other non-Chrome browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Safari. There are claims online stating it also happens on Google Chrome although it is much less frequent. Internet sleuths have pointed to a specific line of code in a YouTube Javascript source file as the primary culprit of the five-second gap. In our experience, we couldn’t find that particular line. In fact, we didn’t experience any performance problems when we opened a YouTube video on Firefox, Edge, or Chrome. It’s entirely possible this is only affecting a handful of accounts For […]

Chrome just made it easier to find useful extensions – including AI-powered ones

21/11/2023 0

If you’re sick of having a hard time finding the best Chrome extensions for your web browser, things might be about to get a little easier. That’s because Google has just launched a new Chrome Web Store full of extensions, complete with an updated design and extra features including new categories and personalized recommendations. In a blog post, Google says that in addition to new categories, such as Shopping, Tools and Entertainment, there’s a dedicated section for AI-powered extensions that make use of artificial intelligence to improve their capabilities. Many of these integrate popular chatbots and include some of the best ChatGPT extensions available right now. There is a section reserved for suggested extensions, which Google notes are based on “what you’ve previously downloaded.” And it’s all wrapped up in a Material You layout that makes use of the large cards and icons that we’ve seen on everything from ChromeOS to Android 14. Filtering out the noise […]

Today’s Wordle answer is so tough it nearly cost me my 680-day streak – don’t make my mistake when playing it

14/11/2023 0

Today’s Wordle is one of the most difficult we’ve had so far in 2023. It’s the kind of game that will have dedicated Wordlers pulling out their hair in frustration. It will lead to many a curse word. It will spoil many a breakfast. And of course, it will end many a long-running streak. Indeed, it very nearly cost me mine. But tough though this Wordle undoubtedly is, my pain was also self-inflicted – because I made a couple of key mistakes that I should long ago have consigned to the trashcan of history.  To explain what they were, I’ll need to include SPOILERS FOR TODAY’S WORDLE, GAME #878, ON TUESDAY, 14 NOVEMBER 2023. So please don’t read on if you haven’t already completed it. Just bear in mind that you might want some Wordle hints before doing so. How hard? Before I get to my mistakes, let’s talk about today’s Wordle word and exactly how hard […]

Google forces a new look for Chrome – but you can get rid of it if you hate it

10/11/2023 0

Google’s design revamp for its web browser has exited testing and is now rolling out to users of the release version of the Chrome – and if you’re not keen on it, there’s something that can be done. The Chrome redesign, which you may have already got – or it could be coming to your browser soon – offers a typically modernized contemporary look that includes rounded corners (everywhere, from the app window to all core interface elements). The likes of icons have also been refreshed, too. While that’s all well and good, there are other tweaks that have been less well-received, shall we say. That includes increased spacing between buttons for a more touch-friendly interface – which means bigger overall menus, an irritation for those who don’t use a touchscreen, and don’t want that enlargement (eating up space that could be used to display the web page). Analysis: Reversing course Google has previously made moves to […]
