Blended Learning: Integrating Traditional and Digital Education
Blended learning is an educational approach that combines face-to-face classroom instruction with online learning activities and digital resources. This hybrid model leverages the strengths of traditional education—such as direct teacher-student interaction, social engagement, and immediate feedback—while incorporating the flexibility and personalization made possible by digital technologies. In a blended learning environment, students typically attend scheduled in-person sessions and supplement their learning with online modules, interactive assignments, or virtual discussions, creating a more diverse and adaptable learning experience.
The pedagogical foundation of blended learning lies in its ability to accommodate different learning styles and paces. For example, learners can review online materials at their own speed, revisiting complex topics as needed, while also benefiting from live engagement and collaborative in-class activities. This dual-mode format supports differentiated instruction, where teachers tailor content and assessments to individual student needs, and fosters greater student autonomy.
