X was down –here’s what we know about the major outage

18/11/2025 0

The social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, experienced a huge outage on web and mobile today, but fortunately the problems now seem to be fixed. The first spike in reported problems on Downdetector happened at around 6.08am ET / 11.08am ET, with over 3,800 reports in the UK and over 11,000 in the US. They hit a high at around 6.40am ET / 11.40am, followed by a second peak at around 8.35am ET / 1.35pm GMT – both of which coincided with some major Cloudflare problems. Cloudflare said it saw “unusual traffic to one of Cloudflare’s services beginning at 11:20 UTC”, but has since said that “a fix has been implemented”. That seems to have sorted the problems on X and many other sites including ChatGPT, for now at least. Security Council LIVE: Ambassadors to vote on Gaza stabilization force

17/11/2025 0

Ambassadors are due to meet at 5pm in New York to vote on a US plan for an international force to restore order in Gaza, protect civilians and open the way for large-scale aid and rebuilding — a move which could help the shift from war to recovery. The proposal also calls for Israeli forces to leave once security is in place, while Russia has put forward a rival text (see our scene-setter here). The stakes are high: today’s outcome could shape who takes responsibility for Gaza’s security, who delivers humanitarian relief, and how quickly the enclave can move towards a more stable future. Follow live below, check out full meetings coverage here, and UN News app users, follow here.
