Project-Based Learning (PBL) is an instructional methodology centered around students actively exploring real-world problems and challenges through sustained inquiry, collaboration, and the creation of tangible products or presentations. Unlike traditional models of instruction, where students often passively receive information, PBL immerses learners in complex questions or projects that are meaningful and relevant to their lives. Through this approach, students develop a deeper understanding of subject matter by applying interdisciplinary knowledge, generating solutions, and reflecting critically on their learning process. Scientifically, PBL draws upon theories of constructivism and social learning, positing that knowledge is best constructed when learners engage in active, hands-on experiences—often in collaboration with others. Cognitive research demonstrates that when students are involved in designing investigations, collecting and interpreting data, and iteratively refining their output, they develop higher-order thinking skills such as problem solving, analysis, and synthesis.
